A Bit O' Green

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Use Your Favorite Technique  Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is: A BIT O' GREEN

I bet you were expecting tons of green and a St Patrick's Day theme from me this week, right? Well, that is what I expected of myself too, but I challenged myself to use just a touch of green. I was working on this after a big snowstorm and bitter cold, and we were iced in at home,,,so there was my inspiration. You can see I snuck in some spring colors with the pink and green, because I am forever hopeful that Spring will arrive.

FROZEN

I began by free writing  my thoughts about this winter storm, being iced in , and my sons coming to the rescue. I collaged bits of tissue paper, and Seth Apter's Printed Tissue over it. (I was inspired by a wonderful lesson from LaQuisha Hall.)

 \

Next, I went in and smudged white paint on areas of the pages. I am kind of missing the bright colors and bold designs of my beginning...

I decided to  add a bit more tissue and printed tissue, a bit more white paint, and did some mark making with the end of a dowel and light green paint.

Then I added a photo and some ephemera...

Details...

After sleeping on this, I decided to stamp a few snowflakes .

Frozen, with hints of Spring, and a photo to represent my sons.

It may be frozen now (when I created this, hopefully not when it posts!), but Spring is coming!!

Use Your Favorite Technique

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  LOOK TO THE NIGHT SKY Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

Since it is the first week of the month, we are showcasing the products from Dylusions created by the very imaginative Dyan Reaveley.

Please join me in welcoming Rox of Red Dirt Crafter, who is our guest designer this month. I know you will enjoy her creative style!

This week the challenge is: USE YOUR FAVORITE TECHNIQUE

Write your own ART story!

Where do I start with my favorite techniques?? I do have many. I chose a couple for this week - Stenciling and Layering Color.

I began in my art journal with a rainbow array of watercolor.

Next, I went in with a couple of Dylusions stencils and a baby wipe and removed color. I call this Subtractive Stenciling.

Once this layer dried, I next went back in with the stencil and white paint, and stenciled some areas.

I collaged on some Seth Apter Printed Tissue paper.

Then, I cut out shapes from paper I printed from my stash, into flowers..

I went over the flower shapes with black marker to make them stand out.

Cosmic Stardust

Hello Monday, my friends! And welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge. Thank you for joining us for the  Make a Boookmark/Based On Books Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

It's been wonderful having Cassie Lynch with us this month! Looking forward to more of your wonderful creativity, Cassie!

This week the challenge is: LOOK TO THE  NIGHT SKY

We are Cosmic Stardust!  I created two ATC's filled with images of the night sky,  from the Moon, to planets to constellations...

I began by covering my illustration board ATC's with patterned paper from Stamperia's Cosmos Infinity papers. I distressed the edges with Ground Espresso ink.

s

jI stamped images from AALL and Create's Astroventurer stamp. I went over my stamped image with watercolor, and used parts of it on each ATC. I added some cogs and gears and a Moon here too.

I added the quote to this one with Pegasus soaring through the heavens, along with a piece of jewelry from my stash, tied with a bit of twine.

Stardust in our veins...

I added a lot of gold splatter to both of my pieces.

I've always found it so interesting how we see different images in the stars and name our constellations.

I hand lettered COSMIC for this one. I had to pull out my Astrolabe (an ancient instrument used to read the stars) to do my photos with, it just seemed perfect.

I hand lettered WE ARE STARDUST  for this one.
Yesterday, I thought I had finished, but in the morning I came up with the idea to add the words to both.
